Default RE: deer ticks

Isit permethin or permethrin.Spelled both ways. Are they different?
Permethrin is correct. Permethrins are a group of insecticides that fall under the cassification of synthetic pyrethroids. They are derived from pyrethrins which come from plants.

Most of these synthetic products come about because they can manipulate the formula in a lab and retain toxicity to insects but decrease toxicity and adverse sideeffects to people and animals. There aren't many pyrethrin products around anymore. They have been replaced with the synthetics.

As far as being the same or different. The products are all essentially the same if they are synthetic pyrethroids. The active chemicalmay be a little different but they all work the same. You will see products thatend with ethrin and ectrin most commonly.Duranon is a synthetic pyrethroid, the active ingredient is permethrin. Permanone is also permethrin, same as duranon. Companies market the same drug under different names.
