I guess the thinking is progressed beyond the ethics of it to, if I kill a big buck in a fenced area and mount it in my living room do I want to have to explain 50 times how and where I killed it.

I see fences as a grey area. I think there are times when it might be okay by my standards, very large area, not baited, etc., but most of the time I wouldn't do it. I think a lot of legit hunters have an aversion to fence hunting b/c some rich guy who doesn't know what he is doing and doesn't appreciate anything, can hunt for 10 hours and kill a bigger deer than many serious hunters might kill in their lifetimes.
