North East corner of Montana is fantastic hunting, not just pheasant but sharptail grouse as well! tons of public hunting under block management program. Plentywood, MT has motel(affordable) and a really nice hunter oriented sporting goods store. Contact Montana Wildlife Dept, and ask for current block management maps and they will send them to you free in August. Northeast corner is zone 6. After opening weekend you can hunt all day and sometimes not see any other hunters. Big country, but lots of birds room for dogs etc. My favorite place to hunt on the planet!!
