The 300wsm has almost exactly the same figures as 300 win mag on paper when factory loads are compared. I honestly don't think you would be happy with 300rum because it is kinda like a specialist's cartridge(long range). It is my opinion that about 1/2 of people shooting magnums are stooting more gun than actually needed. By that I mean how many shots are made that couldn't have been made with a "standard" cartridge? Also,it is my opinion that a lot of times instead of using a new "supermagnum" some of us(not very many I hope),need to put the hunt back in hunting instead of simply blasting away at great distance. Before yall all jump on me,I realize there are a few times this is needed.
