One time I shot at a gobbler (who had hens) and missed, but I saw where they ran off to, so I just stalked around in front of where I assumed he would be. Then I called real soft, and scatched the leaves softly. In about 5 minutes, the gobbler had left his hens and came cautiously in to investigate the calls. Then I got him. I've used the "get around in front of him" at least twice that I can think of and it's worked great for me when I spook a bird. He may go silent, but you can still get him.
