I am not sure what I am talking about. The surface rust is up to the point where the barrel meets the stock (on the bottom). I am thinking it might be on the barrel (under the stock) where I cant get to it without removing the barrel.

I am thinking I need to get the barrel away from the stock just to make certain it is not rusting.

Based on what I am attempting, what do I need to remove?

I would like to do this myself. Is there any level of experience required to do what I need to do?

I dont mind putting in the time or effort. My only concern would be jeopardizing my safety or the rifle.
