I have a Ruger M77 MKII. It needs some TLC. I have cleaned the surface rust off the barrel but it seems that i need to remove the barrel to do the job right.

I had someone tell me that I should remove the screws in a certain order and re-install them in reverse order.

Is this true?

Secondly, excuse my ignorance but should I remove the scope before removing the barrel?

If so...should I remove the scope from the mounts and then the mounts from the barrel?
