Dad and I drove down to Boise, Idaho Friday morning for his Arbiculturist Certification exams and decided to buy our non-resident fishing licences and fish our way back to Spokane. I bought him a new rod and reel for father's day and this gave him a chance to break it in a bit.
The smallmouth fishing on the Clearwater between Hell's Canyon and Orifino is amazing, these are two decent fish we caught out of probably 40 or more total. We started fishing around 8:30 this morning and decided to quit around 3:00.
Its a bit confusing as a good portion of the Clearwater is located on the Nez Perce Indian Reservation, portions of which are open to everyone, but none of it is really posted. We had to stop in two or three small "towns" to make sure the waters there were legal to fish.
Not a bad father's day weekend.
