I shoot at 50+ yds practicing quite a bit.....but I don't have a place to hunt that would see me shooting over 40 yds, max.

Longest shot I've taken at a deer was 33 yds (and I thought it was a bit closer). That's about max, for my liking.

If I hunted the wide open spaces....I'd practice from further distances (60, 70, 80yds) and get proficient at the 40 & 50's (VERY proficient).
