You sound like you do a good job of staying scent free, keeping clothes in container, using rubber boots.
Isn't it possible that this (and obviously the wind) had something to do with your close encounter?
I think this may explain some people's apparent success. The people who care enough to buy and wear scentlok probably (on average) do a better job on scent control in general. I know that the first scent suit I bought was right about the time I started using special detergent, scent removal sprays, keeping clothes separate, using rubber boots, jacking up higher in my stand, and all that.
I've had deer very close not wearing scent-lok, but I do all the things you do. Of course deer have busted me, but they also busted me back when I wore scentlok.
