That's some nice info there tfox , but believe me I know the difference. I can't tell you how many times I've spotted a massive group of chiggers on my jeans. It's not easy to see them alone, but you can. As far as the massive groups of them go, there's no other word to describe the feeling but helpless, because you know in a matter of minutes they'll be biting the hell out of you.It starts as a tight cluster, then they spread out. It's from walking through a nest of them. They are very miniscule and difficult to see but I'vefound if you get home quick enough and strip down, you can scrape themoff with a buck knife.

I didn't know they're gone before the itching starts.
