Default I need some help

Hello everyone, my name is Chris and I need some help. I have a non-typical DC-200 I bought a couple of years ago and have gotten hundreds of pictures and I LOVE getting pictures of game. I actually got one of the bucks I had been getting pictures of last year with my bow which was pretty cool because I was 500 yards from where I was getting the pictures. Anyways, here's my problem. While setting up the camera, it fell out of it's little hole in the case as I was closing the cover and the whole plug assembly broke off of the camera so now I have no way of attaching the camera to the unit. I would like to get it fixed but I heard that dealing with their customer service to get things repaired is a nightmare and expensive. So, what would you do?
Also, I would really like to get a new digital trail camera because the convenience is unreal! I can leave the camera out there a little longer because I'm not relying on 24 photo's and I get to see that the camera is in the right spot while I'm there and that it's not too high or too low.Would I be better off buying a commercial one or playing around with a home-made one using products from whitetailsupply.com? I looked at their website from a previous post and they seem to have some cool stuff. I really want a camera that works well, is very reliable, can last a couple of weeks in the woods through heat and cold and rain and snow. I want it to take decent pictures, clear so I can see what's what, and I want decent trigger speed, the rear end of the deer doesn't help me too much. What are your thoughts and suggestions? Thank you very much for taking the time!
-Chris
