At any rate, I got some field points and noticed that they WILL NOT fit into the shaft of the 400 FMJs.
Inserts were not installed properly and you have some glue inside the shaft that is keeping the tip from fitting inside the shaft.
I agree. I shot FMJs for about a year, and they are great arrows, but you have to be real careful putting in the inserts and use the tool they give you, because it cleans the inside of the shaft on the way out. Did you use the supplied epoxy or standard hot melt? I have done them both ways and it works fine either way, but it is very important to use the tool the provide to do it. If you have used hot melt, you can heat up the arrowa little and maybe try to get that glue out of there. If it is the epoxy...you may be screwed.
