I suggest you go to nearest gun store and handle all different models/brands and see which fits you best. The gun that has best natural fit will help you shoot best.
+1!
First things first, though:
why do you need the pistol? Self-defense? Plinking? Competitive target shooting? Hunting? Once you answer the
why, the
which become much easier to answer.
Fit is crucial. I never understood why there were so many kinds of handguns, until I realized that there were so many kinds of people. In the realm of shoes, you may love spike-heeled pumps, but I have, as yet, not found a pair that I feel comfortable in! As for pistols, I know most people swear by Glocks, but they just don't fit me well. On the other hand, most Sigs feel like they were built lovingly just for me, and many people don't care for 'em at all. So, find the one that feels great
to you, and ignore the rest of us!
One caveat, however, is to use the weight of the pistol as a check & balance against the fit. A Kahr may give you a wonderful fit in your hand, but its light weight will make it less comfortable to shoot than a heavier model.
Hope this helps! And I hope the shoe analogy didn't gross you out!
