Default Well, it took a while

But, I finally got a deer this year. I was hunting from a blind in the afternoon, and then as the sun was getting low three does came out. One of them was bigger than the other two. The sun was bright still on her and her fur shone with that reddish tinge. As she turned, I put the crosshairs on her and let her have it. She dropped like a rock. I hit her a little high in the spine. As she struggled to rise, I nailed her again through the shoulders, and she didn't last long after that. First deer this year, I have until January 31th to try and get another.

When I dressed her, she was pregnant, had a good sized fetus. Not that I was surprised by this, this late in the season. One of the reasons behind hunting is to control population, so I didn't feel bad about it. Still, I was wondering, how many of the rest of you have taken pregnant does/cows? How early in the season have found them?
