Default Better late than... Go Snoodlers!!!

Well its better late than never and thats why I never quit! I finally scored on a bird this evening! If you have read our teams thread, you would know that I haven't had a stellar season. But that all changed when I got the chance to go out today. I got out about 5:30 pm and as soon as I pulled onto the farm, I saw a tom with 2 hens about 300 yards away. Well after a very long hike to get around them and into a good position, I found that the tom had disappeared! Not to be discouraged, I decided to leave that area and see what else I could find. I made my way to the back of the farm and found 2 toms feeding in the field but they were about 500 yards away and heading away. I tried to get them interested but they weren't having any of that and disappeared into the trees. I then figured its getting late so maybe I will head back to were I saw the first tom. Wouldn't you know that my luck seemed to be changing cause now there were 2 toms and as soon as I saw them I knew I could get into position. The only problem was that to get in front of them I would have to quickly hike about 1/4 mile back, up and around, so I could approach from the river bank. Well lets just say that I think thats the fastest 1/4 mile run I have ever had when hunting!!! Although I have to say it wasn't fun since the temp was around 84 degrees! Well I finally got to the spot I wanted to and peeked over the ridge and there they were!!! So, I sat back against the nearest good tree and let out a few yelps. I got an immediate response so I through out another yelp and a few cuts. Again he gobbled back, but this time I could tell he was a little closer. About 5 minutes pass and all the sudden I see his gleaming white head bobbing over the ridge. After a few tense moments, he stood about 30 yards away and I sent a load of #5 Nitros right through his head! After a few minutes to catch my breath and to give thanks to the man upstairs, I collected my prize. Well I have to say that all the sweat and scratches were worth it!!!

Weight= 20 pounds 14 ounces
Right spur= 1 1/4 inches
Left spur= 1 3/8 inches
Beard= 9 1/2 inches
Total score= 66.125

Pictures to follow soon!!!
