Default RE: Last Day - Way Cold - Unfavorable Wind - Do U Go?

I got up at 3:00 this morning and headed to Johnson County IL. for the last day of the season. I got there around 5:30 and was in my stand by 6:30. It was snowing like crazy and I was hunting a pine thicket, because I figured thats where the deer would go to get out of the wind and snow. About 7:45 I saw what I thought was a doe standing broadside at about 35 yds, I normally dont shoot at a deer over 30 yds. but since it was broadside and appeared calm I took the shot anyway, well it was snowing so hard I couldnt see if I hit the deer or not. I saw what I thought was my arrow laying on the ground so I thought I had probably missed but wasnt sure, so I knock another arrow and kept hunting(I had 2 tags). About 9:30 I got down from my stand to check things out. I went to the spot where the deer was standing when I shot and found the arrow and it was covered with blood. The snow had covered up everything, no tracks, no blood or nothing, so I just walked up to the spot where I had last seen the deer running and there HE was, what I thought was a doe turned out to be a spike with one antler broken off. Luckily I still had my either sex tag.
Anyway if I have a tag left I always go on the last day no matter what the weather is like.
