RE: Team 9 -- "Gobbler Getters"
Well that bird skunked me again. I decided to try a different route Sat. morning and when I topped out on the bench, after a long 45 deg. climb, he gobbled 80 yards from me. I set up quickly behind a big tree and didn't set out any decoys for fear of being spotted. I did some soft tree yelps for a while and once I thought it was light enough did my fly down. He gobbled over 20 times from 5:50 - 7:15 and then went silent. I never heard him fly down. It had rained that night and it wasa little foggy so I think he stayed on the roost the whole time. He never cut me off or gobbled right after my call but only after I had been quiet for a while. I think he was wondering why he couldn't see the hens he thought were right near him. I had company staying at my house so I had to back out quietly at 8. I plan on trying it again tomorrow morning before going in to work, and trying another place right behind work all week during my lunch hour.
