permanone and read directions - it is not to be used on skin.
1. Always tuck you pants legs into your socks. You want to be a tightly butoned as you can iot helps.
2. Those green smooth rubber knee high boots - ticks can't cling to them and they are easy to see.
3. Tuck you inner shirt into your long johns or any other pants you wear under your cam pants.
4. Wear long sleeved under shirt - as your first layer. Now I do not treat any inner clothing with Permanone.
5. I permanone my shirt collars a bit
Now if bitten do not fret. Remove the tick with a forceps by grabbing a bit of skin at the head end. Wash the wound but do not throw the tick away. I treat the bite site with Neosporin or some other type of good antiseptic.
1. The tick removed.
2. apply to a 3 by 5 file card with clear tap. yes stick the tick there. Why?
3. Mark the area bitten on your body
4. the date
5. anything else notable
Then if for some reason yo have soem illness - you might have the culprit.
Now for Lymes disease it takes over 24 to 36 hours for the the tick to really give yo any injection. So prompt removal of those attached are a must.
What I do at the end of each day
I LOOK FOR TICKS
1. My clothes are placed in a big palstic bag - pants, shirt, coat, hat, and sprayed lightly with a house and garden isnect spray such as Raid House & Garden. I then seal that bag.
2. I then bath to check for ticks.
3. All other clothes are washed or bagged immediately.
4. If you do not want to use insecticide in abag - a hot setting for 10 minutes in any ole dryer will kill ticks. But remember to empty your pockets as to not ruin calls or turkey shells!
Ticks are an ugly anrthopod. But taken precautions such as I have listed - you won't mind them so much.
Old wives tails - I recommend you do not do
1.Touch a lit match to a tick attached. NOT - Think of it you are boiling that tick. What really is the tick but an INFESTED HYPERDERMIC needle stuck to ya!?? So you justmight help injectin the nastys the tick possibly carries.
2. Coatthe tick withnail polish or dish soap or skin so soft. NOT. It is your best practice to remove the tick as soon as ya find it attached. Then cleaning and treating bite area immediatly and follow the isntructions I listed above is the best practice.
The only positive thing I can say about ticks is it is the only arthopod I know of that makes you get naked and ya can't see everywhere - so ay need a friend!
