I have never tried a diamond jig on lake trout. I have always used a leadfish or a swedish pimple for them when jigging. When the water gets around 50 degrees here we like to troll a few streamers around the shoals from 15 to 35 feet deep. Sometimes just on the surface as well using a fly rod.
