Default RE: Buck Fever - Turkey Fever??

Deer hunting is great and everytime I see a deer it's like the first time but... there is just something about Turkey hunting that gets me all fired up. It's kind of like a chess game. You have to figure out your opponents next move before you make your move. There is nothing like sitting there waiting for the woods to come alive on a clear spring morning and hearing that first gobble.

I think a big difference for me is that I have a little more control. If I am archery hunting and that buck is 50 yards out, there isn't much I can do to bring him in. I can scout and put myself in hopefully the right stand. But with turkeys, I can make that finally call, or scratch in the leaves. I have actually traded my gun in for a camera the last few springs. I carried my shotgun once in 4 trips last year. Just to be out there listening and working a bird for another hunter is awesome. I've already got that itch to be out there working a big gobbler.
I do have to agree with davidmil about the taste, nothing like a good steak.
