I've cut off the nock end of arrows several times for the same reason with no problems. The only thing I do recommend is to use an arrow saw instead of my first attempt of an arrow chucked in a cordless drill and a Dremel...no matter how steady you are, you just can't compare to the arrow saw! Lesson learned!!!
