Default The age old debate...270 or .30-06?

I realize this topic has been discussed into the ground over many, many years, but I'm just looking for some feedback from the veteran hunters out there as to which one they prefer.
I hunt deer and hogs. Where I'm at in east Texas, the deer aren't huge but the hogs in the 400-500 lb. range are taken from time to time.
I know both calibers will do the job rather well, I just like hearing opinions on which caliber you folks like better based on personal experience.
I'll probably never be lucky enough to hunt elk, moose, or bear. I wont be shooting 500 yards at south Texas whitetail either. The majority of the deer I've taken have been 50-175 yard shots.
O.K.....270 VS. .30-06......Let the games begin!!!!!!!
