RE: Ruger No.1
I have 2 of them a 1b in 280 and a 1s in 45/70. No I have not spent a couple of hundred dollars tweaking each one , in fact I spent 15 dollars on the 1b free floating the barrel with acraglass gel. The 280 shoots 1- 1 1/2 groups with some handloads I had hanging around from my last 280 bolt rifle and the trigger is pretty heavy 5lbs, there is a lot of room for improvement when I get around to making up some more loads for it and getting the trigger down to 3 1/2 or so. The 45/70 is a sweet rifle...beautiful wood and a 3 3/4 lb trigger from the factory and using 300 grain winchester hollowpoints shoots nice cloverleafs.
