Finally Boys (and girls), connected this morning. Although it was only a Jake, it felt good. It has been long/tough season so far. I had to work harder for this Jake than I have for any of my other birds. The farm I'm hunting has a lot of hens...A LOT. This late in the season, a lot of hens should nesting, but I seen 7 hens this morning....and only one bearded bird (the Jake) I've only seen two Toms this year (and a pile of hens) and I've put a lot of hours in. So after passing up Jakes earlier this season, I thought I better take one before I get skunked on the year. The bird weighted 14 lbs, 1/2" purs, 4 1/2" beard. I will calculate the score and post some pics later.
