Default First Turkey

Well with the 7" snow storm on openong day the hunt got off to a slow start . The first 2 days where lost to the storm and the cold air and mud in the fields . On the third day I set up my outhouse blind but only saw more geese than I want to talk of . On Saturday I spent all day in the blind and saw one flock go into the field behind me but showed no interest in my decoys .On Sunday I moved the blind about 30 feet and turned it around and set up my decoys farther out in the field . About 4:00 pm 3 hens came out into the field and milled around about 30 yeards from the blind and spent much of the time looking straight at the blind . Finally 2 of the hens left the field and I thought that was all that would happen until a tom came into the field and when he caught sight of my B-moble he went into full strut and took 4 steps before I took him . He was 23# 6oz with a 9" beard and 1" spurs . He was not the big one of that flock but I will take him as my first turkey . In the fall I will try again .
