I used my 1st Thermacell and I work in the Bug Repelleant industry as I support the product called OFF!

Yes Thermacells are well worth your money - No they are real quiet and do not affect the birds - and I even put a string on mine so that I could drape over my neck and get up and run......if needed..

I also used the string to help hang it form trees or brush.......
