Default Still no bowbird.

Well yesterday was my last turkey hunt of the year. Opening weekend I used a BP shotgun to kill a jake. It was the first bird I ever called in and killed myself. I really wanted a bowbird as well. It too will be a first when it happens. I tried on several occasions to no avail. I did get a few hens in range but never even saw a tom or jake from the blind. I have decided that if I want to make it happen next season I will have to commit to the bow and leave the smokepole at home. It was a good season for me although I only filled one of my four tags. There are two weeks left to the season but after spending the last two days with out sight or sound of a bird it is time for me to give up. My next two weekends are filled with family obligations so I'd have a hard time getting out anyway. It is a two hour drive to the nearest land I can turkey hunt. I will now turn my energies to becoming proficient with my recurve. I hope to kill a hog or two with it before deer season gets here and will need to practice regularly.
I think next turkey season I may just have to find some land with more birds to make it all come together.
