after lots of deerI have settled on the - Ruger 30-06 and the Federal 180 grain nosler high energy load.
I know some will say way to much load for deer but my thinking is it shoots flatter the a 270 at 400 yrds and hits harder than a 300 win mag at 300 yds. Never lost one since going to the 30-06, with some quite a way out.
