RE: Deer decoy
Have used both doe and buck. The doe decoy once used was the Flambeau CommanDoe and the buck decoy still used is the Carry-Lite. I have no longer employed the use of the doe decoy now for two years. For 3 years of use, I have had only 1 immature buck check it out. Though I have had numerous does come within 35 yds of the decoy, they soon become nervous - stomping, snorting, and fleeing.
On the otherhand, the buck decoy has worked quite well. Only used it during prerut and rut. Every buck that has seen the decoy has had come within bow range to investigate. With the Carry-Lite showing off an approx. 15" 8pt. frame all the bucks have been lesser in size and have not been taken nor have they attempted to take down the decoy though they have displayed some aggressive behavior, but only to an unresponsive Buck- thus they usually just walk away. Does have yet to spook to the buck decoy. My brother-in-law was so impressed by my stories that he went out and bought the same decoy the next day and while using it the very first nite missed a drop-tine buck that he described walking out of the woods with his nose in a doe's butt only to break away from the doe as soon as he saw the decoy.
One additional note - face the buck decoy toward you and the doe decoy away.
