Had a great morning, nailed a gobbler around 9:00 this morning out of a natural ground blind. He had no idea i was there. Had em gobbling all around, but the bigger toms stayed just over the hill and out of reach. Had two different jakes come in to the pretty boy deak this morning, and one other jake spook as soon as he seen it. seen several hens pass by earlier. Just before 9:00 i finnaly spotted one of the toms toppping the hill on the left side. I thought he was heading into the woods so i gave a couple more soft yealps. He ended up skirting the edge of the woods (i was hunting a corner)He then got ina foot race with a jake when they seen the deaks. He ran the jake off, sized up the pretty boy and pretty girl. My heart was pounding out of my chest. He begain spurring the deak and went behind it briefly. I drew my bow, he turned with his back facing me, I settled in with the 20 yard pin and let her rip. It hit about 2" to the left of where i wanted it. He ran like he was going down then took off in flight with my arrow still embeded dissapering over the hill like he was down. When i ran to have a look he had vered right and was attempting to fly into the trees, he did not make itThis season i decided to give it a go with the bow and lay the gun down. what the hell have i been waiting for?? It was awesome. Not my best bird but my heaviestbut themost memrable , im elated> 21 1/2 LBS 11" beard, 1 1/4" spurs
