I'm not qualified to argue about the physics of this, all I can say is that after a lot of shooting my plain 3x9x40 scope, my ML has held center and I haven't been socked in the eye due to eye relief issues. I think if you have the extra money to spend, a scope specifically designed for ML would probably be better, but I just don't think it is necessary. I don't want new hunters or hunters on a budget to think that they have to get a ML scope (which usually costs more = $300 for Nikon Omega). In my case, when I got my ML, I upgraded the glass on my regular hunting rifle and transferred the Pro-Staff to my ML. That also helped me avoid having to explain the purchase of 2 scopes to my wife.
