I cannot knock the 243 because I have taken a lot of deer with one up 300 yds,it is very good for deer.I have a 260 and it is one hell of a deer rifle,It probably is my favorite,a ruger mk11 stainless,have taken deer with every weight bullet offered.It would be a good round for women ,youth and men.A 7/08 is a very good round for all also about the same recoil.There is so many very good rounds maybe you should let her decide.
