RE: gun for the lady?
My wife shoots a Remington 742 in 243 cal.and I shoot a Remington mohawk carbine in 243 cal.
I can not recommend the 243 high enough.they are a real good cal.I have only shoot one deer in the 30 years or so I have been shooting the 243,that I didn't get. all the others were only a short 50 yards or less away.
same with the wife only shoot one we didn't get.she hit him low in the front leg(not fatial,we say him about three mos later)this does not count all the #'s of hogs we both have taken.
only two out of all we have taken,I would say over 100 deer.
this year she took her largest buck yet,a 10 pt. field dressed 134 lbs.she took him at 150 yards, one shot, went less than 50 yards.
so you can see I am for the 243 over 150%.little or no recoil, good for 150 to 200 yard shots.several size bullets from light varmit to deer.I believe she will be happy with the 243.just make sure you also get her a real goooood scope.
just my 2 cents;there are 98 more!!!!<img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>
I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest
