My 2007 Turkey Hunting story to date:
Wed April 18th, 2007:
4:30 AM: It's opening morning, i am pumped up.The Ol' Trykon(brand new last year) is all sighted in, and the NAP"Gobbler Getters" are ready torock. I arrive to my spot alone, my camera man couldn't get off work, so i'm huntin solo.I make the walk to the spot, bout1/4 miles from my truckAfter hours of scouting i've got the spot. I take out the double bull and get it almost set up (no where near 7 seconds) and crunch, my finger gets pinched in the blind, ow. Its bleeding everywhere but heck i don't care im gunna kill a turkey! Not, didn't see or hear a turkey! where did they go? Your guess is as good as mine. My finger now hurts.
Thursday:
YAY another day of turkey hunting! I pick up my camera man and head to the spot, yes THE spot...the same one! Am i stubborn? maybe, but i know they are there! We hike the 1/4 mile to find my blind 40 yards away near the swamp, talk about loud. We get all settled in the blind, now staked down, and i get my calls out, i can't find my diaphrams! Why? Because they are in the Truck. WOW, i ask myself: "didi really need the extra practice inmy truck? So i grab the slate and give a couple tree yelps and then...A Gobble, wich shocks another one...and another, and another. At least 5 differant gobbles, your so wise i tell myself. Well long story short, they got silent off the roost and i never saw one, most likely henned up. I start thinking, will i ever score a bird! I glance down at my finger, yeah hurtin again!
Well guys, going out all day tomorrow...took school off...feeling a littttle sick (cough). Roosted some birds tonight, hopefully success story with pics tomorrow. Gotta run, dang fingers bleedin
