Default RE: target panic

55,you are on the money with holding and not shooting.

What really happens with target panic is the brain trying to concentrate on more than one thing at a time, that is impossible to do so the thoughts jump back and forth between form, aiming and releasing. All 3 must be addressed separately, like 55 said with the aiming and not shooting, that eliminates the thought of releasing and form. Those 2 should be addressed first before ever shooting for score.

The blank bail trick works for form and for release, just pull the bow back and cocentrate on making a clean release on a blank target, when the release is pure the release hand will fly back and it will be a total surprise(remember to squeeze and not punch). You can work on form at the same time.Just remember to keep everything in a straight line, elbow straight back and arm straight out in front, but elbow doesn't need to be locked.Body straight up and down.

When you feel that you have those 2 down, then the aiming needs to be worked on.That is when you need to do the aiming with no shooting, just cocentrate on letting the pin sit on the bullseye.Do this 3-4 times before every shot and the tp will start to go away. There are no shortcuts and tp is probably the hardest thing to overcome and you need to go back to the basics to overcome it.

Everyone is correct, this just ties everything together.Oharcher gives some excellent advice also.
