YUP! You really need to think about what you say first. Especially in the above situation. There's many times, and this one was a prime example, of saying less is best. At this point the police department is covering thier rears for liability reasons. Having said the statements is a big bullseye for potential problems wether the staements had warrent or not. It sux but in a world full of get-rich-quick sue happy people there's a BIG potential for a major lawsuit should anything actually go bad with these held firearms. Seems those few words spoken are what will be the reason for a legal route to obtain the firearms.
I have done plenty of research on Rhode Island laws and know my rights as a firearm owner.
Unless you are well educated in these matters you're not going to find some things. Kinda like only seeing one side of a story becasue you're on that one side. Being blind to the other side deosn't make what you found absolute. Time to call the laywer. If in fact this was all illegal (the layer will let you know), then follow it through with the district attorney. If it isn't, swallow your pride and move on.
