i dont understand these people making replies in defense of the police department (both here and in deer hunting forum).

you said that IF you were to follow this career path donw the road sometime it may cause you stress induced problems. That does not make you unstable at the current time, if you are no longer following said career path. You were not diagnosed as unstable or insane. They took your guns before you were ever diagnosed as incompetent, which according to your post is against the law. And people are defending the police over liability?

You are in no way a threat to anyone, at least no more than any other gun owner. The fact that you were sent to be evaluated was unnecessary. They ahve no legal reason to still hold your guns.

I think you are going to have to get a lawyer. its unfair, but you dont seem to have much choice here. jsut keep complaining farther and farther up the chain of command until somehting gets done about it.
