Man, I feel for you, but the PD did not take your guns. They asked for them, and you surrendered them. It does sound like they may be holding them illegally, but I am not a lawyer. I am actually quite surprised that all this began over you trying to quit a job that you hadn't even really started yet. I feel confident that you will work it out sooner or later, but basically, you screwed yourself by handing your guns over without a fight. I hate to be rude about it, but I would have made them actually take them. Good luck getting your guns back.
