Default RE: Turkeys...the new predator?

Dunno but turkeys are a terrible predator in a sense. Ever wonder why the grouse populations are terrible in areas where the turkeys are high in numbers. Well its cuz turkeys will run down and kill chicks and live in the same nesting habbitats that grouse do. Sunny hill sides with thick underbrush and food sources. Look at WI years ago when turkeys where just being introduced. Grouse populations where very high throughout alot of WI and in my arguement I mean not just the northern half. My dad has picks of when he was my age with a tail gate line of grouse, and I'm from west central WI. Now today I'm lucky if we see 5 grouse on a whole afternoon of hunting let alone try to get a shot on a couple and hit one or maybe two if lucky. This is why the grouse populations are still great in northern WI. There aren't hardly any turkeys there yet but just wait they are on the move and soon all of WI except for the northern lake shore is gonna be depleted in grouse numbers. Don't get me wrong I love to hunt turkeys and are one of my favorites to hunt but I think if I had to make the decission I would rather have the numbers between grouse and turkeys be flipped. WCL
