i love the 30.06..its a great round...lets face it..if your not a long range(400+yds) hunter you dont need a magnum at all..i love hte guys that spend the extra money and take the extra recoil to have that magnum here in PA...my farthest shot on a deer was ooo abotu a whole 40 yards...im considering going to a 20 cal because the 3006 hits like a brick at that range..i will never sell my 06 though...forget the 20...im not out there to have a deer run and dont care about the ounces of meat it ruins..i love that round...drops em where they stand...very accurate if u play around...and has a good range...200yds you are still good iwth a 100yd zero...400 i think it only falls 36inches which isnt bad at all if you can do a little math and hold high or sight in that far...i agree anything in NA isnt very safe if i have a 3006 in my hands...i would take on a grizzly with it...the head in like 30 or more inches i duno exactly ive never seen one but its huge...i put on in there and i beat he never moves again..and if you cant hit say even a 20 inch circle at say 100 yds you need practice! if i won a trip to hunt griz id take the mauser in 06...no need to buy another rifle for that one time hunt....i think it will be around forever...
