Well, you got rifleing which consists of lands and grooves. Lands is the raised section and grooves are the lower sections. Depending on the type of rifling, where the rifling starts. Weatherbys start like 1/2" in front of the bullet. Most 06's and all start like .03" in front of the bullet.
