I didn't read all the posts to this thread (my bad) but figured it didn't matter as I was going to share my personal experience.

When my wife and I were dating, she realized what a huntnut I was. So she figured she would like to participate as well. In her brief hunting career, she had decent success with both bow and shotgun on deer.

Where I messed up was not realizing where she was in the "hunter cycle" compared to me. At the time, I was extremely driven and competitive, not a good "phase" to bring a new hunter into the sport (IMO). Too muchemphasis onsuccess and not enough on enjoyment.

Maybe when our children are raised she might want to rejoin me.
