the Montana is a tad on the rough side, but not nearly as shocky as say, my Pearson "Ol' Ben" longbow (Both are serving a tour of duty in Camp Cuervo, Iraq at the moment)...

when you get more familiar with the bow, you may want to replace the grip leather and reshape the grip with a rat-tail file.

other than that, they're not bad for the money.
