Default RE: So what's in your fly vest?

mallard, for a complete list of regionally specific flies, I'd suggest looking at various online bookstores for a guidebook to Ontario. A good one will have hatch charts for major rivers and you can make some educated guesses based on geography as to what will work in your area. That said I wouldn't leave for any stream in N America without these flies:
NYMPHS
Gold-ribbed Hares Ear sizes 12, 14, 16
Beadhead Gold-ribbed Hares Ear sizes 12, 14, 16
Fox Squirrel and Beadhead Fox Squirrel sizes 12, 14, 16
Pheasant Tail sizes 16, 18
Peacock Herl Nymph(Zug Bug or Prince Nymph)sizes 12, 14
Scuds(Olive, Pink, White) sizes 12, 14
Brooks Stone sixes 6, 8
Montana Stone sizes 8, 10

WETS
Hares Ear Soft Hackle sizes 12,14,16
Sparkle Caddis Pupae(Green, Yellow) sizes 14,16
Marabou Muddlers(Black, White, Yellow) sizes 6,8,10
Wooly Buggers(Olive, Black, Purple) sizes 8,10

DRIES
Adams sizes 14,16, maybe 18
Royal Coachman sizes 12,14
Light Cahill and Dark Hendrickson sizes 12,14,16
any of the above in a parachute tie
Royal Wulff and Grizzly Wulff sizes 12,14,16
Elk Hair Caddis sizes 12,14
Yellow Sally size 14, 16
for late season a hopper pattern is a necessity-size to match the natural
a Deer Hair Beetle is good too sizes10, 12

I know that looks like a lot but if youconfine the sizes you buy or tie to those closest to the naturals in your area, you eliminate half the list. You'll want to check with a local fly shopto get absolutely dialed in and they'll sell you what you need for the area without a lot of stuff you don't need.
