Usually a bearded hen doesnt grow a huge beard. I have also seen toms with no spurs. How long was the beard and what color was the tail fan. To be honest hens have a very pretty tail fan but it doesnt compare to a gobblers tail fan. I wish you had a pic then we could tell you in a blink of an eye...
