Sweet!! I already forgot we got to keep the same team for this year! Welcome back guys!

kellyguinn 02-01-2018 01:29 PM

Back for another round. Can't wait till our season opens April 6th.

Bocajnala 02-01-2018 07:16 PM

Checking in, Let's do this!

I got some good spots lined up in both Ohio and PA!

-Jake

Strut&Rut 02-02-2018 11:15 AM

Boom!

Season is a long way off for me, but I'm ready...

I actually have 2 hunters to guide this year - my 12yo son and the wife. I convinced her to try it last Spring and she loved it. She bagged a jake on the last morning, she's hooked!

S&R

Bocajnala 02-04-2018 04:53 AM

I got a little while yet.....

Ohio comes in April 30 for my North East Zone....

PA comes in April 28....

Bible_Man 02-05-2018 08:38 AM

I'm in! Look forward to remaining on this team for years to come!

DTC 02-06-2018 11:19 AM

Looking forward to it. I am hunting TX, MO, and NE this year.

kellyguinn 02-07-2018 05:12 AM

I had been planning on going after either the Osceola or the Merriam this season but with the boys graduating from High School this year and starting college the bank roll might be a little tight lol. I still plan on doing a few trips to western Oklahoma (Rio) and at least 1 to SE Oklahoma for the Eastern. We are allowed 3 birds total here but only 1 can be an Eastern and only a few counties will allow more than 1. All my hunting will also be on public land here but luckily there are plenty of birds. The easterns can be a tough get here though as it will be tough terrain and the population hasn't been that good due to flooding in that part of the state.

Zim 02-11-2018 09:09 PM

Same teams. That makes it simpler. I'm in again. Already got two public land permits, one in WI, & one IL. Applied for one more in IL, plus some WI leftovers. Got a trip to China to visit wife scheduled in the middle of the season haha. The wife figured out my turkey fillets substitute great for pork in her stir fry recipes.

Might also end up hunting some in Indiana this year if I find the right home. Taxes are driving me out of Illinois, but do have a LL so will continue to hunt here going forward unless the politicians somehow figure out a way to overtax me for that as well.

springspur 02-12-2018 03:24 PM

Getting antsy.

March 20th needs to hurry up, Glad to be back with The Rejects, good luck to all.

Bible_Man 02-19-2018 07:39 AM

Had a good time at my short visit to the NWTF convention! Ready to start chasing some red heads soon!

Bocajnala 02-19-2018 05:09 PM

I'm so excited. I've already got everything sorted and my backpack packed and ready. still have two months before I can even think about getting ready to hunt lol

Had a VA appt this morning & had some time to kill before watching my Granddaughter so stopped by the Salvation Army & scored a NWTF print by Jim Kasper dated 1992. In a matted frame with the NWTF logo paper on the back.

Strut&Rut 02-23-2018 06:48 AM

Nice! I scored a Whitetails Unlimited print from the Goodwill last year - found it on 1/2 price Saturday and paid about $5. To be honest, most of my art either comes from Goodwill or direct from artists via commissioned works...

springspur 02-23-2018 07:04 AM

Nice score

Good find on the white tail print, I picked up a NWTF life sized cardinal statue at Goodwill, it's perched on a small log with a turkey tail feather across the log...I'm going to tell people that I shot it with my .177 pellet rifle and got it mounted! We'll see if anyone falls for it.

springspur 02-23-2018 07:11 AM

recruits

Let's talk to our fellow hunters & get them to sign up, I read on the turkey contest page that they want to break up the band & have smaller teams.

ManofTheFall 02-28-2018 05:19 AM

I almost forgot but I'm back and ready to kill some turknados!!!

kellyguinn 03-01-2018 04:39 AM

Not bad!! only 2 haven't checked in. I imagine there is still a good chance of splitting us up since not a lot of sign ups this year.

You're right. If the last two don't check in, that might put the numbers close to what they need to be to at least have 3-4 teams.

springspur 03-02-2018 05:57 PM

turkey sniper 2.0

New turkey gun all set up, just need to sight it in, anyone have experience with the Vortex Venom red dot?

Zim 03-03-2018 01:15 PM

Been checking the Illinois turkey inquiry link daily hoping to find out where my 2nd hunt will be. Always a crap shoot with 10 choices. Can be anywhere from WI border to MO border. Got picks all over.

firelt72 03-05-2018 07:14 PM

Spaced it guys, Sorry I am late to the party, but I am here.

Planned hunting in Indiana, Texas and Kentucky if my plans all work out right.

kellyguinn 03-06-2018 04:34 AM

Welcome back firelt72. Looks like we are all here except clemsonturkey and he hasn't been back on the site since he signed up for the contest last season. Should be another good year. If anyone wants to try some good public land here in Oklahoma I'll be glad to show a few areas. We have Rios mostly but there are Merriams in the panhandle (never been up there) and Easterns in the SE part of the state.

Bible_Man 03-06-2018 07:51 AM

SpringSpur, I haven't used the Vortex Venom, but have a great deal of experience with Burris FastFires. They are awesome, and you will love it. Just sight that bad boy in, and never worry about parallax again!

Bible_Man 03-06-2018 07:53 AM

Welcome back, Eric! Get you some good ones in each state!

Kelly, that is a very kind offer. Wish I would be able to take you up on it this year, but it doesn't look like I'm going to have any extra cash to put towards licenses/tags/travel over what is already planned for Tennessee and Alabama.

Strut&Rut 03-06-2018 11:30 AM

Definitely hunting Michigan this year, not sure if it's the early or late season yet. I'm currently upgrading the plumbing in my entire house and remodeling 2 bathrooms - and my daughter graduates HS this Spring - so I may also hunt NY if I get ahead of schedule...

S&R

Bocajnala 03-06-2018 11:51 AM

I'm anxious for season to begin. Need some time in the woods.

My son and stepson graduate HS this year also. Almost time to kick em out of the nest lol. Sure puts a strain on the pocket book though making sure they get started out on the right foot. They have been going to college half a day the past year also.

ManofTheFall 03-06-2018 12:47 PM

My season doesn't start til April 22nd. I hate this late start. But it's what we have here in Ohio. Right now I'm down here in Florida. Just killed a hog yesterday.

firelt72 03-06-2018 01:29 PM

Thanks for the welcome back lol. I have had a couple things distracting my prep time....Okay just one really.

Early bird

My season starts 20 March, so I guess I need to get on the board early. Having problems with a pinched nerve in my back & just talked to my HVAC guy & need new system for the south end of my house so there's 4 grand gone. Money is no good unless you spend it I guess. Thanks for the info on red dots.

Drew my 2nd Illinois tag today. Same public property I scored last year 30 minutes into my first hunt last year. 6 Jakes then two mature toms. Also a 25#er the year before. Will see if there's any leftovers as soon as soon as they post. I'm very lucky to have my job, which allows me to scout and hunt statewide, and get paid for it. Opposite from years past, I have two 1st season tags this time. Then I'll fly to visit my wife in China for three weeks before returning for two late season May hunts in Wisconsin. My first hunt opens April 9th. She will move here shortly afterwards in June, when she retires from teaching. Can't wait. She wants to turkey hunt with me next year.

I have been loading them to my computer, resizing them a little and then uploading them to the post using the paper clip symbol. In the reply to thread

Congrats!! They sure do use up a lot of time but its well worth it. Mine are about to jump out of the nest.

Good luck on your hunts Zim. Hope the transition for both you and your wife goes smoothly.
