Default RE: Opening Day Rainbows(lots of pics)

Well in 2002 there actually wasnt even a lake there but they decided to build a dam on the creek so it became a reservoir and they only stocked it once in 2002 with rianbow trout and when they stocked it they decided to make it only one fish a day over 20 inches thats why they are able to get so big but they havent stocked the lake since and it is doin just fine but i kinda wish that they would turn it into a trophy lake so that you would only beable to keep one over 25inches then that place would be awesome. And im assuming they are spawning too cause the males are obviously ready to spawn and the one pic of the big female you can actually see eggs falling out of her and a couple times when we netted fish we actually got a couple minnows in there too so im sure there are still maybe a few in there from when it was stocked but i think the majority is natural fish now.

As for what flies i was using i started of with an olive and it was doin ok but i switched to having a brown catatonic leech on bottom of line and bloodworm up a bit higher then a indicator about 5 feet up and look out they were just destroying both and my buddy also tried an evil weevil and that was doin awesome as well.

Hope that helps you out Pygmy
