I am good with Capt Kelly! Also name good with me. I got tied up last week in shop and work and didn't get on. I see we still have two no shows if I am looking right. I'd be glad to assist Capt Kelly as Lt lol.

kellyguinn 03-28-2017 01:21 PM

lol you can have it if ya want it. I'm just able to get on mainly Monday thru Thursday as work. Maybe have a collaboration lol

I've sent a few PMs out and messaged on their board. One of them was on while I message him and still no response. From what I read they are not going to harass like in past contests and if they don't show they are just out and no replacements will be placed either. At least we are just down 2 lol

Arrowmaster 03-28-2017 02:17 PM

Strut&Rut has been added to your team

kellyguinn 03-29-2017 04:26 AM

Thank you sir

Welcome Strut&Rut. Glad to have you on the team

springspur 03-29-2017 11:15 AM

Spurs up!The Rejects are on the board

Finally filled My first tag, beautiful morning, no gobbles off the roost. Had one answer my calling at about 730, Called him across the field. It was slow going until he saw my Jake and hen then he came in on a string. Killed at 813 am. 17.5 pounds, he had a funky broomed off beard with only a few long strands but they count 8.5 inch beard, right spur 1 inch, left spur 7/8th inch. Photo inserted with the help of my son Erik...good thing I can use a slate call better than an abacus (ZIM)

firelt72 03-29-2017 11:18 AM

WhoooooHoooooo We are REJECTED!!!!! On the board baby!

kellyguinn 03-29-2017 12:10 PM

Strut&Rut 03-30-2017 04:08 AM

Checking in. Congrats on the bird$. I haven't even dug out my gear yet and you guys are already bagging beards ...

I'm hunting MI and maybe NY. I'm taking my son out for MI early season (last 2 weeks of April), I hit the woods in May...

S&R

Welcome Strut&Rut

Welcome to the Rejects, Get your gear out and start driving your family practicing your calls, just like everyone else does!

Zim 03-30-2017 09:02 AM

Good job. My first tag isn't until April 20th. Last tag season ends May 30th! Will score points very late.

firelt72 03-30-2017 12:59 PM

I open very late too- April 26th....Yeah Indiana!

ManofTheFall 03-31-2017 08:25 PM

Way to go springspur!!!!! On the board!!!!!

Bible_Man 04-07-2017 11:24 AM

I haven't been around much lately...obviously! Good to see that some of you have already connected! I went for the second time this morning, but only saw the girls. I will be out again in the morning. It has been slow for me in Tennessee so far, but I will press on.

springspur 04-07-2017 04:10 PM

Close but no cigar

Walked up on one bird at 30 yards yesterday. Was walking a firebreak and he stepped out, of course my gun was slung and had no chance. 2nd bird gobbled just once and it was a pitiful little gobble, I think it was a jake and he went right behind me clucking. Will try again in the morning.

Number 2. 11:30 this morning. 21 lbs I'll get the beard and spurs measured when I get home. Again a big thank you to Zmax.

kellyguinn 04-10-2017 04:51 AM

Here's a vid of the second bird.

kellyguinn 04-10-2017 04:52 AM

Jakes coming in strutting.

Fighting over the hen decoy and trying to breed her lol

superstrutter 04-10-2017 01:14 PM

Awesome and congrats on the birds. I love to video tape my hunts. Next time zoom the camera in a little on the kill. Just a little constructive criticism, lol. Don't forget to post the measurements and scores on the scoring thread.

ManofTheFall 04-10-2017 08:25 PM

Congrats on the kills and sweet videos.

Thanks. I was using a Gopro so I couldn't zoom. Need to start looking for a good cheap camera that has a view screen and the zoom capability for sure. I used the program on the computer to zoom in as far as I could but if I go much more it starts to look too fuzzy. Do you have any advice on a camera? Oh and I'll take all the constructive criticism I can gen lol. I am just getting started in the filming my hunts and I never realized how difficult it can be at times lol

Bible_Man 04-11-2017 11:55 AM

Very nice!

I have been out a few times, but no good opportunities to speak of yet. Will stay at it every chance I get.

springspur 04-11-2017 05:56 PM

Congrats

Kellyguinn awesome hunts, I've never got a Turkey with a bow, and nice big birds too. Yo da man!

BigDaddy12t 04-11-2017 05:56 PM

My season starts in the morning. Will be in my blind by 5:30! Went and checked cams today, and set up another blind. Got lots of pics of strutting toms!!

Bible_Man 04-12-2017 06:13 AM

Good luck, Big Daddy! (It is weird to call another man Big Daddy, even if through the inter webs.)

I'll be out in the woods again tomorrow morning.

springspur 04-12-2017 05:56 PM

slim pickins

This time last year I was tagged out, it's been hard hunting this year. Going to hit it hard this weekend. Good luck to all my fellow Rejects.

BigDaddy12t 04-12-2017 05:59 PM

Well, the turkeys win day 1 of my season. This morning was pretty quiet, only had 2 birds gobble back to me, and they were a long way away. Tonight I saw 1 bird, but I couldn't tell what it was. Im working in the morning, and then I will be out in the afternoon.

BigDaddy12t 04-13-2017 04:02 PM

Scored on this Jake today a little after 4:00. I had only been in my blind for about 10 minutes, and made one call sequence, looked up and here they came. There was 6 of them, all jakes. This one was the only one that had a beard. I have had a ton of guys tell me this is a bearded hen, not a jake. Anyone else care to chime in on this?

BigDaddy12t 04-13-2017 04:06 PM

Weight:12 pounds
No spurs
Beard: 8"

Total Score 28? Is that right?

Do I have to post it in the score thread? Or does the captain do that.

ManofTheFall 04-13-2017 08:00 PM

By what I can see of the head I would say that is a bearded hen. I shot a bearded hen with like a 5 inch beard a few years back.

I would imagine with the low weight and no spurs it probably a bearded hen. We use to have a set score for them. I have a PM sent to arrowmaster asking about it. You are more than welcome to post the bird in the thread for the official picture and score thread. No need to wait unless ya just want to wait and see what arrowmaster says first. Either way congrats

superstrutter 04-16-2017 03:48 PM

Bearded hens do count.

springspur 04-16-2017 04:55 PM

Congrats

BigDaddy good job, as long as it's a legal bird it's good by me. Tag soup for me this weekend. But the weather was awesome.

Zim 04-16-2017 06:38 PM

Getting close for me. First tag kicks in Thursday. If my spot hasn't been polluted I expect to have tag #1 filled by noon. Can't haul 50# of birds out 1 1/2 miles with my gear so I'll need to return Friday for tom #2. I can use both at this same public property.

Zim 04-16-2017 06:49 PM

What up with Team 3 superstrutter..........7 birds? Really? What kind of a legitimate team competition is that? The moderator should make some real rules. Anyway we are making a good showing so far. I'll be adding some numbers by week's end.

ManofTheFall 04-16-2017 10:53 PM

Yeah, my season kicks in next Monday I'm hoping to score on a nice one or 2. I'm limited to 2 this year so hoping to get it done.

They have in years past but I don't see anything about them in the rules this year. It use to be I think 30 pts for a bearded hen or Jake but the jake could also be scored regularly I believe.

What are you getting at Zim? I'm killing too many birds? I am hunting three different states and only my best bird counts towards the teams final standings.

We have always just scored the hen like you would a gobbler, without the spurs of course. At least in the past few years anyway.
