RE: staring contest...with deer
It happens to me most of time I go into the woods but I see them first ( most of the time ) thru my binoc's , when I do see them I'll quietly sneek in closer.
When they do spot me thats when the stare down begins , I'll freeze and let them look me over while they stomp the ground and do the head bobble thing.
After awhile they'll walk away or continue to feed , I take every precaution to be as quiet as I can be when walking thru the woods.
When scouting for deer or turkeys for that matter , you should try to avoid stepping on twigs or limbs that could snap.
Going out after a rain storm is a good time to be walking thru , the dead leaves are soft and wet and won't make noise when you walk.
